Leadership

Definitions abound, but my essential philosophy is that the predominant, common thread found in all successful organizations is that those in charge are leaders, whose primary focuses are manifesting strategic vision and leading people. Managing and administering are important, and even essential; but they are subordinate responsibilities for leaders, and I consider them to be subsets of the overall role of leadership.

Leading is not a task that can be delegated, whereas management and administration can be. Organizations might succeed with adequate management and administration, but they cannot succeed over the long term without excellent leadership.
